Who May Become Next APC Spokesman

Following the confirmation of Lai Mohammed, the national publicity secretary of the APC, as a minister, indications have emerged that his current position may be retained in the southwest according to the principle of zoning.

The APC spokesperson will have to step down in the coming days.

Meanwhile, while there is speculation that the party management is looking at respecting the hierarchical structure.

If this is agreed, the incumbent deputy national publicity secretary, Timi Frank, will replace Mohammed.

Frank, who comes from Bayelsa state, has been serving as a deputy since June 13, 2014 when the APC established its National Working Committee (NWC).



But a member of the party’s Board of Trustees told the newsmen that some of the APC chieftains are not comfortable with the choice of Frank, a loyal supporter of the Senate president, Bukola Saraki.

Frank allegedly experienced the anger of some leaders in the party due to statements he has made in the past.

In June, Timi Frank openly asked for the resignation of the national chairman of the party, John Odigie-Oyegun, over the crisis that rocked the National Assembly due to leadership battle.

Currently, some APC leaders are asking the president for the appointment of the former national publicity secretary of the defunct Congress for Progressives Change (CPC), Rotimi Fashakin, as new APC spokesperson.

Others are putting in good words for Joe Igbokwe, the Lagos state publicity secretary.
