Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti state has promised to procure new buses for Driver Unions in the state, if they could sustain the current peace enjoyed in Ekiti.

He also declared his administration’s support for the transport unions, as they are a vital tools in nation building.

The governor stated this while he was at the state secretariat of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in Ado Ekiti, the state capital.

Fayose was accompanied on the visitation by his deputy, Kolapo Olusola and other top security officials in the state.

The governor urged the union to be security conscious, and shun any act of violence.

He apologized to the Union members for failing to attend the inauguration of their chairman, Adekola Clement, adding that, the ceremony will be re-scheduled.

“The only way we can make this country progress is for leaders to humble themselves; leaders must humble by coming to the level of the people they governed.

“When you have crisis, the commissioner of police and the Director of the State Security Services says, instead of you taking law into your hands, you should approach them as they are ever-ready to midwife peace among parties rather than do anything wrong.

“I don’t want an administration where there is conflict, we are enjoying so much peace in Ekiti state now and we are going to sustain it.

“I want to pledge from today within the next one year, if you maintain the peace currently enjoyed in the state, I will buy brand new vehicles to the two driver unions,” ‎Fayose promised.

Responding, the state chairman of the NURTW, Pastor Adekola Clement promised that the members will remain loyal to the governor.
