Vanguard reports that the Ogun state police command on Thursday, November 12, 2015, paraded four members of a bank robbery syndicate with explosive devices which they planned to use for operation in Ijebu-Ode area of the state.
Director of the NOA, Dayo Famosaya, who issued a statement in Ado-Ekiti yesterday, informed that they had to raise the alarm for the people to be security conscious and watch out for strangers in their neighbourhood.
The statement titled “Public information on security consciousness and awareness” also shed light on reasons they think the terrorists may have infiltrated the south-western part of the country.
“They have threatened to deploy cluster bombs in the zone. These cluster bombs are usually housed
in discarded metallic materials such as cans of beverages and soft drinks.
“The bombs may be concealed in bags and for it to have more grievous effect, they have planned to deploy these bombs in crowded places such as schools, markets, stadia, churches and mosques,” the statement read.
The public has also been warned to watch out for people wearing flowing apparel, as it was the type of cloth they wear to hide their weapons.
Consequently, leaders of religious institutions, public and private schools in Ekiti state, have confirmed receipt of the NOA letter and have begun to put measures in place to foil any possible attack.
