A group known as the Conference of Nigeria Civil Rights Activists (CNCRA) has alleged that one of the ministers (designated), General Abdurahman Dambazau is not an indigene of Kano state.

Citing Section 147 (1&3) of the Nigerian Constitution that stipulates that every state must be represented at the Federal cabinet, the group condemned Dambazau’s nomination by President Muhammadu Buhari saying “is like robbing the people of Kano state what belongs to them,” The Guardian reports.

In a statement released after the group’s national coordinating committee’s meeting in Akure, Ondo state and signed by its convener, Ifeanyi Odilli, the CNCRA urged President Buhari “to uphold his electioneering promises to Nigerians which among others, include complete eradication of corruption.”

The group added: “We also want to call his attention to his statement “I belong to nobody, I belong to everybody” which means in simple literature, that he does not belong to the corrupt capitalists and that he was to put the interest of every nation that makes up Nigeria before any other interest.

“To us, he who cannot lay down his life for his nation is not fit to represent that country in any capacity. In view of this, we call President Buhari to protect his good name and integrity by ensuring that the two names mentioned above are not sworn in to the Federal cabinet,
particularly Danbazau as we are set to challenge his nomination in a law court.”

Abdurahman Dambazau  is a retired army general. He was the former chief of army staff during the late president Umar Yar’Adua’s tenure. He is a PhD holder. He dazzled the senators with his military intelligence knowledge at the ministerial screening, hence his confirmation.
