Okonjo Iweala puts
Unemployment at 37% and GDP on the Increase?
-Well I don't know figures; but I tell you what I
see.
WEALTH: people are not just poor but hopelessly
poor. To own a Keke Tricycle is a testimony to a
young man.- I noticed able bodied men roasting
Corn and
Pears.
HEALTH: I was in a teaching hospital were there
was no
Refrigerator to store a particular Medication
(injection) for kids.- I saw what was supposed to
be an incubator with only two Florescent tubes
working out of
the 8 tubes.- My friend at Okota still had to
take his family to India for a Surgry.
SOCIAL CARE: I saw a mother of Triplets begging
for alms on an Overhead Bridge with the kids
sucking her under the sun.- I noticed Girls take
Pregnancies for the purposes of selling the kids
to an already arranged buyer.
MORAL: I noticed that not far from my house is a
Stripper Club where Politicians Unwind with
young Undergraduates.- I listened to Kids talk of
their ambitions. They all want to go to
South Africa. They know all the Cars.
CRIME: I noticed that police knows who the
criminal is but they will spend days looking for
who is
not a Criminal in Nigeria. And while you are
relaxing in ur house, you could be Kidnapped.
EDUCATION: I noticed that only the helpless ones
send their children to Public Schools these
days.- From Primary to the University, they can't
pass an Essay If I were
to mark them myself.
- the Private Schools are bloody too Expensive
and you may have to be Dodgy to afford it for
your wards.#think covenant#
ENVIRONMENT: I noticed that It will
take a generation to clear the Pure water
Sachets and other
rubbish lying everywhere.- I noticed, however,
that some areas in Lagos look neater than the
sanitation agents themselves.
RELIGION: I noticed that there is at least one
Church in every Street.- I noticed that Most
Christians have wrongly concluded that the
Muslims are all Boko-Haram and the Muslims
see the Christians as enemies of Allah.
ELECTRICITY: I noticed that if u need light in ur
area, u ve to contribute and buy ur own
transformer and the number of months it took to
install the transformer will reflect in ur NEPA bills.
- i also noticed that the Generators won't let you
hear ur Television.
COMMUNICATION: I noticed that MTN must have
been Licensed to
rip off Nigerians. You pay for Internet and it takes
forever to open a page. You make two calls and
your credit is
finished. You see some bars on your phone and
it still says network not available.
WATER: I noticed that unlike when I was younger,
there are no more water works and taps
running.- if you have a house that needs water
for toiletries, you do your
own bore-hole.
ROADS: I noticed that it is normal to know that
you can't go an hour in lagos without doing a
one-way drive because of gullies at the other
side. You are driving a car and the Trailer is
driving towards you on a one way drive -When It
rained in
some State Capitals you have to park your car or
risk being
whisked away in a flood.- You fast and pray to
get to Lagos
without running into bandits at Benin-Ore road.
These are just a regular events.
INDUSTRIES: Maybe because of respect, I was
offered a tooth pick from China in a Hotel in V.I.
Everything is China!
EMPLOYMENT: I noticed that most
of my friends lost their jobs as Bankers and just
have to go back for another MBA to be busy or
looking for Visas- I noticed that you have to
know
a NASS member to get the slightest Job. I
noticed that you could be a temporary staff in a
company for
years and people call you a banker. I noticed
that People still receive 10k as Salaries- I
noticed that people still work and are owed at
the end of the month.
ASPIRATION: I noticed that there is no knowledge
of Patriotism to the
Country.- I noticed that the Politicians have the
License to loot and Display in the tune of private
jets.- I noticed that you have to be one of them
or associated with them
for you to stand firm.
- I noticed that there are money bags (fellow
Citizens) who move in Convoys with Federal
Police Escorts because they know
Politicians.
IMAGE: I noticed that from Local Airports to
International Airports
we still have Officers, immigration, anti Drug
enforcers, Customs, all of them begging for
money from travellers. I noticed many things oo.
Madam Iweala , I don't know GDP and
Percentages.I was not at Harvard ; but if we stop
the jagons, We can do better Ma.
