The founder of iconic fashion label Biba has
claimed American women "all dress the
same", while Brits are too concerned with
what's fashionable, leaving them with
"boring" wardrobes.

In the latest news from Sweeping
Generalisation HQ, Barbara Halunicki,
founder of legendary fashion brand Biba,
has claimed American women are "terrible"
dressers because "they all wear the same
thing."

Not content with irritating the 160 million
females who inhabit the land of the free, the
77-year-old designer moved on to women in
general.
"I think people are too concerned about
what's fashionable. Women have such
boring wardrobes these days because they
must follow fashion, they must, they must,"
she commented, adding: "There's too much
interest in clothes now and it makes women
dress less well."

Hulanicki founded Biba in 1964 when she
opened her first shop in London's
Kensington. It quickly became popular
hang-out for the likes of the Rolling Stones,
Marianne Faithful and David Bowie, and her
clothing came to personify the Swinging
Sixties era. Though she no longer owns the
brand, she still acts as a consultant for it.
Her dislike for fashion slaves, she says, has
caused her to resort to a wardrobe consisting
entirely of black. "It's very difficult to know
what to wear now. That's why I always wear
black," she told the Daily Mail at the launch
of her new book, Seamless.
