Man caught while attempting to kidnap 1-year-old boy in Ekiti

Pandemonium broke out in Ita-Imesi, Efon Allaye area of Ekiti State on Monday when a 23-year-old man, Samson Olajide was caught while trying to abduct a one-year-old boy.

Olajide was said to have been nabbed while attempting to squeeze the victim into an empty sack.

It was learnt that a commercial motorcycle operator who had gone to a nearby bush to defecate saw the 23-year-old trying to commit the act.



Upon been questioned, Olajide’s inability to give a satisfactory explanation as to how he came about the little boy, led to the commercial motorcyclist calling the attention of those around to what was happening.

Following the alarm raised, people gathered and were about to set the suspect ablaze when he was dragged to the palace of Alaaye of Efon Alaaye, Oba Emmanuel Aladejare, who pleaded with the angry youths to allow him hand him over to the police.

Olajide was subsequently handed over to the police for further investigation and prosecution.
